UK-REBOA Randomised Controlled Trial

In trauma patients with exsanguinating haemorrhage, a recent innovation in management is the use of Resuscitative Endovascular Balloon Occlusion of the Aorta (REBOA).

This large RCT looked at the use of REBOA in the emergency department and its influence on mortality. It found that, when used in the care model described in the paper, REBOA does not reduce, and may increase, mortality compared with standard care alone.
